Travis Vachon described some problems with IE as recorded in bug
10678 <https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10678>,
because IE's XML parser is an ActiveX Control, and some users'
security settings prevent use of Active X controls. One solution
that he proposed for this problem is to insert a servlet filter which
detects which browser is being used, so that I can tune the server
output accordingly.
+ there was agreement that this would be a cleaner way to solve the
problem that what is done currently.
