Right, this was indeed not a regression.

This bug has existed (due to Safari's broken Math.random implementation) 
in the app since we started generating UUIDs on the client. Our tests 
just never exposed it, presumably because we weren't doing that much 
automated testing with Safari until pretty recently.

It's one of a class of bugs that any complex (Web) app has -- that only 
surface in very specific circumstances (some only in the prod 
environment, yay). I'm sure we'll find more of these as we go.
