Here's the summary of the activity on cosmo-dev for the week of
October 14, 2007.

New threads:
-------

+ Ted Leung asked him to file his problems as bugs

005000.html>

Mikeal Rogers reported that Cosmo 0.8 was likely to be delayed due to
his being sick. There is a serious blocker bug in iCal 3 that
prevents Cosmo 0.8 from interoping with iCal 3.

Travis Vachon reported that there was a serious bug in Cosmo 0.8rc2
related to Dojo 0.4.3. He proposed reverting to Dojo 0.4.1 to fix
the bug
<http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/cosmo-dev/2007-October/
005012.html>

Travis Vachon sent out a message about best practices for Dojo 0.4.3,
especially with respect to circular uses of dojo.require
+ It turns out that the root of the problem is the use of single (as
opposed to double) quotes in the require statements.

005018.html>

Travis Vachon discovered a potential fix for the problems with
caching Atom data used by the web UI. The solution involves
specifying expiration dates for the Atom data.

Travis Vachon gave the lowdown on bug 11081 which involves JSON
characters which turn out to be illegal Javascript. There is both a
server side and client side fix. The client side fix is
controversial due to the mismatch between JSON and JavaScript, so for
0.8 the server fix was included. The client fix is pending a
response from Douglas Crockford, author of the JSON spec.

Cosmo 0.8
+ Aparna Kadakia responded that migration testing was in the plan.

005035.html>

Adam Christian updated QA Cosmo to 0.8RC3, normally an un-newsworthy
event
+ Travis Vachon pointed out that QACosmo was using the unbuilt
dojo.js file

Ted Leung reported that bug 11090 meant a Cosmo 0.8RC4
<http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/cosmo-dev/2007-October/
005046.html>

Mikeal Rogers finished the protocol tests and Cosmo passes them. He
wanted to get the tests running on the tinderboxes.
005047.html>

Aparna Kadakia posted a call for people to test a migrated Cosmo 0.8
instance.

Continuing Conversations:
-------

Discussion continued on Aparna Kadakia's QA process change proposal
+ Matthew Eernisse noted that he is working on overlays in a branch
and will be doing test cases
+ Ted Leung agreed with concentrating on growing the automated test
suite at the expense of manual testing in the short term.
