Matthew Eernisse documented the UI Layout and rendering work that he  
checked in recently, and posted some thoughts about doing a better  
job of integrating Jeremy Epstein's viewport work.   Jeremy is  
working on some code to address Matthew's issues.

Brian Moseley reported that the checkin for r4495 will require a  
database wipe.

Morgen Sagen started a discussion about how to handle characters  
which XML doesn't allow.  The ensuing discussion covered differences  
between XML 1.0 and XML 1.1, whether or not offending characters  
could be escaped (not in XML 1.0), and some questioning of the use  
case for these characters.
