Randy -

Will this require changes to the migration script in addition to  
adding the various hibernate bits? I don't mind delving into  
hibernate, but fiddling with the migration stuff would definitely put  
me in over my head.

If no migration changes are required I can do this, otherwise would  
you like me to file you a 0.7 bug?
