Consider git - I am starting to learn git and use it completely.
Though Subversion support is possible using git-svn, very complex
operations (mainly two different subversion url )
is hard or is possible but not documented.

Just when I was reading about it and was listening to the talk by
Linus Torvalds, it got slashdotted and I am sure you would have read

http://chandlerproject.org/Journal/GitUsage is my rough sketch with
what I am doing, but it will be more better when I really start using
it.
Though the opinion in the video is very strong, I do agree that
distributed version control system is the way to go. Git is very
efficient and I am starting to save a lot of space :) and things are
faster as well..
