Ok, time to get the ball rolling again on the wonderful topic of access 
control.  I've started a wiki page on this topic:

Let's just say it involves a lot of talk about securing access 
to.....drum roll.....items in multiple collections!  Please check  it 
out when you get a chance and join in.  Its not an easy problem to solve.
