I would hope that someone can use Sunbird or Evolution to synchronize 
with a collection published by a Chandler user.  Including in a 
read-write scenario.

I don't know if this is orthogonal or irrelevant to the question you 
pose.  But offhand, I'd say, heck yeah, a DAV user should be able to 
subscribe to an MC-published collection.
