as of a couple days ago, cosmo no longer uses jcr for storage. cosmo
0.4 is the final release of jcr-based cosmo. 0.4 and previous releases
have some compilation dependencies on jackrabbit, so you wouldn't be
able to use any othe jcr implementation without writing some code.
