[Cosmo-dev] hibernate merge nearing completion

i've spent most of the day merging the hibernate sandbox
(sandbox/simdesk) into a copy of the cosmo trunk
(server/cosmo/branches/simdesk_trunk_merge). the code compiles, and
all tests pass. i have yet to actually run the thing yet, because
bear's in the midst of copying over the snarf changes, but that comes
next.

once we've verified that the web ui is mostly functional, i'll begin
the much easier process of merging the simdesk_trunk_merge branch into
the trunk. that will be done hopefully by the end of today.
