Yes, an associated principal has to exist on
the CalDAV server, I believe.

I haven't seen the authentication system that
passes authentication requests to servers
that have not been explicity added to some
'domain'.  Not that I disagree with the idea,
just don't see how it would be secured from a
'rogue server'.
