Some random statistics related to a real-world production Cosmo
instance: cosmo-demo.

Total accounts created: 392
Last 7 days of "number of unique users": 9, 41, 42, 13, 31, 26, 23
Amount of disk space used by the $COSMO_ROOT/data directory: 600Mb
Number of files to store this 600Mb: 37,154
Number of directories to store the 37k files: 65,434
Time to copy this 600Mb (on 7200RPM SATA RAID-1 drives): 14 min
Time to single 600Mb file: 30 sec

No hidden agenda, just operational stats. The highish "directory to
files" ratio (about 2:1) was a bit surprising and accounts for the
longer-than-expected time required to copy the Cosmo data store (as for
a backup).

Brian's looking into the mysql backend for Jackrabbit (as I understand
it), which would help with the "how to backup Cosmo" issue by allowing
an admin to use standard "mysql hot backup" procedures.
