i wonder if the amount of work you'd save on the chandler end would be
offset by the amount of work we'd have to do on the cosmo end to do
eim over dav. i'd say we're 90% done with the morse code protocol
implementation, which is pretty simple. if andi or somebody else on
the chandler team wants to step up and start working on that, i bet
they can have the basics working quickly (within a week or so), just
waiting for eim/eimml to solidify.

i doubt that eim record type changes would have a dramatic impact on
the cosmo schedule, unless eim itself fundamentally changes (like
adding new data types). i think our biggest challenge right now is
getting the xml serialization right, and that should be nailed in the
next week.
