Hello all,
As we are approaching the cosmo 0.6 release, we need to have a
process around how we plan to test data migration before we go live.
I am øpening up the discussion here on so we can come up with a
production migration test plan; a generic plan that will be used for
future upgrades as well. This needs input from dev, QA, IT as well as
build and release teams so best if we can come up with a plan here.

At the minimum, we  will require taking snapshot of production data;
say a staging instance, running migration script on it and then
running tests against this staging instance. The real question is
what tests do we run on this to certify the ugrade. As we already
know automated cosmo tests creates it own data and tests that so
those aren't going to be adequate for testing the migrated data.
Also how do developers plan to do unit testing of the migration script?
What QA test scripts do we need to test the upgrade?
What manual tests will be involved?
Should we get the dogfooders to test against this instance?

Any thoughts?
Aparna
