Is there any more information on what the original plan was, in terms of
a target date? Or is this an analysis in the abstract; that whatever
date 0.5 was otherwise going to be, it'll be 3 weeks later if Hibernate
is included.
Certainly, +1 to including Hibernate in the next release, whenever and
whatever that is. +1 to promoting it to trunk and getting through a QA
sufficiently to be released in an earlier milestone than 0.5final.
I don't think the 0.5 specific date should be of any import, per se.
This isn't so much "slipping 0.5" as "pulling in Beta by doing hard work
first".
I'll stick by my statements that Hibernate in trunk by October seems a
critical path item to any Beta launch that includes Hibernate. In a
viable but vaguely bizarro world, we could do Beta without Hibernate.
But if our March Beta *does* includes Hibernate, then all engineering
analysis of the problem (bug and schedule risk, rework, software
architecture) point to merging as soon as possible and further making
Hibernate the top demand on developers time until merged, QAed, and
available in at least a milestone release.
+1 to Hibernate in 0.5. Let's wrap and plan towards that.
