[Cosmo-dev] "Hibernation" - Integrating Hibernate into Cosmo

Hi folks,

We need to make a decision about whether or not we are going to go
ahead an integrate Hibernate before we release a build of Cosmo
labeled 0.5. Brian's current estimate of the delay introduced by
integrating Hibernate is 3 weeks. That means that Cosmo 0.5 will be
3 weeks later than originally planned. Keep in mind that we will
need to integrate Hibernate well before Beta in order to support some
of the needs of the hosted service.

As far as I can tell here are the set of people who would be impacted
and how

Sheila/Priscilla: the end-user facing functionality scheduled for 0.5
will be 3 weeks later than anticipated.
BCM - is doing the hibernate work.
Bobby - will have to do work twice if we delay integration of hibernate.
Matthew - maybe blocked by hibernate integration, but Bobby can work
with him to stub out some data so that he is not blocked.
Jared - wants to see hibernate in the trunk by end of October.
Mikael - we'd like Mikael to do a full test of the integrated
hibernate and then he'll need to test again when the 0.5 features are
completed.
Bear - will possibly be doing some additional builds.

Most of what I've been seeing and hearing has been in favor of going
ahead and integrating Hibernate now, but I want to make sure that
everyone who will be impacted gets a chance to speak up. Please
respond to this message if you have concerns about extending 0.5 by 3
weeks in order to integrate Hibernate. If you are in favor, you are
of course welcome to reply as well.

Ted
