One thing to bear in mind: by removing all the iCal properties you have 
also cut-down on the size of indexes for all that data. However, any 'real' 
CalDAV server is going to need to execute queries and thus there will be 
additional overhead for at least the indexes for all properties/parameters. 
I suspect that is going to add quite a lot to the storage requirements.
