Hi Pete

That particular use of the Quick Entry Field produces:

* a note
* with an alarm.

You wish to add the note to the calendar. Use the Item menu:
http://n2.nabble.com/file/n2134252/Add%2Bto%2BCalendar.png

Chandler Desktop: icons <http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/DashboardIcons>
shows the icon that corresponds to the menu command.

To remove the alarm: single-click the alarm icon.

The following bugs/enhancements may improve usability in due course:

Tooltips throughout the UI

Tooltips in Calendar canvas header area and column header

Rationalize Context menus, App menus and Tooltips

A note created with an alarm fails to remove the alarm when the alarm icon
is clicked
<https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12572> — discovered
thanks to you, Pete! Not likely to affect you unless you aim to remove the
alarm *immediately* after creating the note.

Regards
Graham
