I'm afraid there hasn't been much more work.

Well, that depends.  What level of functionality do you need from an 
address book?  Some folks have just created a "contacts" collection and 
put notes that represent contacts into that collection, which is a pale 
shadow of a real address book, but works for sharing.  Would that meet 
your needs?

If you'd like a little more functionality, it's possible the old contact 
stamp work could be put into service.  Are you interested in doing a 
little coding to make that happen?  We'd happily give you a hand, but 
contacts is something we're unlikely to do without outside help.
