Hi all,
just to clarify, does this sentence
> When importing Tasks with Start/End dates from Lightening, Chandler
> will display the item in both the Triage Table View and the Calendar.
> So, no choice is necessary in that direction.
mean that, when importing from an external application, either a task
with start/end date and an event will be imported in the same way
(calendar-stamped note)? And no star will be stamped?
If so, I think important semantic information is being lost! When using
other applications, an Event is usually short-living and hard-scheduled
(1-2 hours in which you must be in a place), and a Task is something
that happens in background, with a start date and a due date, across a
time span of several days.
I think that importing some 15-day-long tasks as calendar-stamped items
would create lots of unnecessary lozenges in the calendar view, making
it unusable.
So, we're back to square one: does the introduction of the Star prevents
a proper handling of Tasks in Chandler? As long as you tell me "use the
star, and if you wish, you may think of it as a task" I'm with you. But
if the Star cannot be assigned a "task" meaning when
importing/exporting, then I feel it as a regression w.r.t. 0.7.4.
I apologize in advance if I misunderstood your statement.
Coming back to your question, I think the answer must guarantee safe
round-trip export-import cycles. My suggestion would be: when importing
task, "star" them; when exporting "stars", create tasks.
Regards,
Fulvio
