Hi, Nocte

First, by way of solution, I think using the Item >> Delete menu, and  
then choosing to delete just "This" would do what you want to do (i.e.  
delete just the single occurrence you wanted).

You have just discovered a bug in 0.7.7: The "Remove from Calendar"  
option should not have allowed you just to remove a single occurrence,  
but instead put up the following dialog:

"XXX" is a recurring event. Removing it from the calendar
will remove all its occurrences. Do you want to remove:

[Cancel] [All Events] [Future Events (Disabled)] [This Event (Disabled)]

I've filed this as:

https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12195

and will fix it shortly.
