I've looked into this and believe I'm seeing the issue you're having.
1) I create a collection
2) I click on the "dropdown" button next to the collection
3) I click the "Apple iCal" subscribe button
4) I click on the link as instructed
5) The collection is added to iCal after a number of prompts, one of
which is for a username and password. I make sure the username/
password entered are the same as I use to log into hub
6) I right click on the collection in iCal and select "refresh"
7) I see a ! icon next to the collection in iCal.
It turns out that for some reason iCal has not stored the credentials
for the iCalendar file correctly, and clicking on the ! icon prompts
you for them again, after which the refresh works like a charm. This
actually sounds like a possible iCal bug, so you might pursue this
with Apple. I've filed a bug against Cosmo to track this issue:
