[chandler-users] Imap folders, database & auto triage

1. I am using Entourage (so exchange back end) as far as I am aware IMAP is all set to work as we can use IMAP clients if we have too.

2. Submitted snapshot re Crashing Trash

3. I tried to file bug report for non triage but "Bugzilla has suffered an internal error" A legal OS/Version was not set. I put in Mac OS X :D - anyway I changed it to other and then I changed it to 10.5 in the submitted window Bug 12254

However I could not see any patterns in items that would not auto triage.

4. Please let me publish dashboard to hub ! - see other email anuyway to just show what only appears in dashboard so I can work round and make sure everything is in a sync'd collection.

Time to update to 1.0rc1 :D

Thanks
Adam

Hi Adam, see replies in-line...

We have been trying to track down these IMAP sync issues for quite some time. But don't yet have a good grasp of what's going wrong. https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12143

You've probably told me before, but can you remind me: What email client are you using?

Dashboard is probably my problem - I have also just realised it is machine specific ! Would like an option to Sync Dashboard to hub ?

Unfortunately, right now there isn't. Making it so that Hub and Desktop are essentially one in the same is high on the wishlist though: http://chandlerproject.org/Planning/DesktopWorkQueue#KeepSynced

Ill empty my trash (mmmm that just crashed Chandler twice - maybe I can't :D)

I think we have run into this problem before. It has something to do with messed up recurrence. Jeffrey has advised me that if you File>>Export>>Chandler Data to .chex File, quit and then relaunch and File>>Import>>Chandler Data from .chex File, you should be able to empty the trash.

But before you do that, it would help us greatly if you submitted a snapshot of your repository.

1. Hold down ctrl when launching Chandler.

2. Choose the 2nd option from the bottom: Make a snapshot of all my data to submit with a bug report, then quit.

3. Submit your repo here: https://feedback.osafoundation.org/repo/submit

4. You will be given an ID number, please email the ID number directly to jeffrey at osafoundation.org

I have logged a bug for this problem here: https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12251

I understood the auto triage from other services was something fixed or added recently ??

It was recently added to Hub, so you shouldn't be experiencing it anymore. Could you file a bug? Have you detected a pattern in what kinds of events fail to auto-triage? e.g. Recurring events, etc.

Thanks
Adam

Hi Adam,

I seem to be having limited success with IMAP folders. I have 3 macs
with Chandler Desktop all with the same set up for IMAP however they
do not seem to pick up new messages I put into the Chandler tasks
folder - reporting no new messages ? I have managed to occasionaly get
one of the machines to pick up new messages ?

Once in a while I see this, but not as frequently as it sounds like you
are. When it's failed, going to File > Sync > Mail has always fixed the
problem for me, does this ever work for you?

I have also noticed the number of items backed up on logout is vastly
different from mac to mac but I have all collections sync'd to hub.

There are a couple of things that could be happening, off the top of my
head. Unfortunately your Inbox and Dashboard are *not* synced, so if
you have any items in there, they'll get backed up but they won't
necessarily show up the same in all Chandlers.

Another possibility is that I believe we backup Trash, so if you've
emptied trash on one Chandler but not another, there could be lots of
trashed events that aren't synced that are being backed up.

I am also still finding some items from a subscribed non chandler hub
cal - a .mac subscribed cal still do not always auto triage.

I've been seeing this occasionally, too. It seems like auto-triage just
doesn't happen once in a while. I can't fathom what would cause this,
but we should keep our eye out for it. Might be worth filing a bug, I
don't think one exists yet.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey
