Hi Igor,

Sorry to hear that! When was the last time it worked, and what version
of Chandler were you using at the time?

If you're using a recent enough version of Chandler, an automatic backup
should have been created for you at shutdown, look for your profile
directory (see
http://chandlerproject.org/bin/view/Projects/ProfileDirectory) and see
if there's a file called backup.chex, how big it is, and what date it
was last changed.

If that backup isn't recent enough, but you've been able to open your
data after your most recent upgrade, there are various things you could try.

Try holding down the Ctrl key while starting Chandler. It should give
you a list of options. If you've got data that's important to you, I'd
start by choosing the "make a snapshot" option. Then, start up again
and try "Do internal cleanup, but keep my data and settings".

If you upgraded and now Chandler fails to open, try downloading the old
version and try running it.

----

Once you get Chandler starting up, to get your events and tasks out, you
can export each collection as iCalendar, just select each collection you
want and choose File > Export > Notes and Events to .ics.

You can also directly convert your backup.chex file to text, but it'll
have lots of extraneous information, in addition to the body and titles
of your items. If you want to follow this route, choose Tools > Sharing
 > Convert export file.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey
