Hello all,
I've been reading about Chandler around the web, and god, it has got some
bad press lately - mainly becouse of OSAF's restructure (Mitch Kapor
"abandoning" and stoping the funding of the project).
This is really some bad marketinng towards Chandler and you know, people
often take the words of other people, this could be really bad for gathering
new users for future releases of Chandler. I'm aware that the project has
its quirks, and I even gave up on using it circa 2005 becouse of stability
problems. However, I never gave up on believing on the ideas and potential
of Chandler.
It's also amazing how people love to just write bad things about something,
discarding the positive side - and most importantly, help the situation
change. They distort the reality and create a bad paradigm regarding
something without even really knowing what is happening.
I think 0.7.4.1 is, despite some minor performance problems, quite usable.
The work the team has done on the HUB is also amazing (I'm at a workshop and
I don't have a laptop, so I'm using the hub to take some notes and then will
be syncing them @ home).
I strongly believe that in the months coming the project will take off like
a rocket. As Philip J. Eby saidd, the organization was a good thing.
I wish I could help more, but I don't have much free time currently. I am,
however, using Chandler all the time and filing bugs whenever I find I need
to.
So, keep up the good work. The bad press will eventually change to good
press.
