[chandler-users] why I use Chandler and what would make me stop

Hi Rick,
Hi Rick,

Thanks for your frank analysis of our situation. I agree that we have
a tough road ahead of us. As Sheila has said, we won't be able to
address performance issues until we have a re-architected Chandler
and we plan on having a 1.0 before that. (Although I would leave open
the possibility that you've hit an odd bug that makes your Chandler
run especially slow. The performance speeds you're reporting are not
the norm as far as we know.)

That being said, in the short-term, we *are* looking to address a sub-
set of the performance issues indirectly by detouring users around them.

For example, we are hoping to come out with a quick entry widget in
the next month that you can access from your iGoogle homepage or
possiby your Desktop so that when you're working outside of Chandler,
you don't have to contend with poor performance to simply add some
quick ideas.

We are also looking into widgets for search, notifications of new or
edited items in shared collections etc.

In other words, we're looking for ways we can lessen the pain of
poor performance by making users less dependent on Chandler Desktop
for doing everything.

It's a cheat on some level, but for us, it's more realistic that we
can ship these kinds of solutions in the short-term than addressing
performance with a top-to-bottom re-architecture.

See proposal for quick entry widget here: http://

Best,

Mimi
