Hi Jason,
Do you have an IMAP email account? If you do, you can configure
Chandler IMAP folders that would essentially support #2 below.

Messages you drag into the Chandler Events IMAP folder will be
downloaded into Chandler and added to your calendar. Chandler will
attempt to figure out the dates and times of the event by looking at
the title and contents of the email.
The other scenarios you describe would be great additions too! but
would require adding support for "Chat" and "Document" item types
(in addition to the Note, Message, Event and Starred item kinds we
already have).
