You can get more background on why we decided to pare down the  
toolbar from these 2 blog posts:

Our aim was to address feedback from users that they weren't sure of  
what kind of application Chandler was. Since the app is not intended  
to replace your everyday email client, we removed most of the email- 
related buttons in the toolbar.
