You mean that you are using the binaries (via chroot), right?  I just
assumed that I'd have to build from source for a non-Ubuntu distro.

Since this worked for you I'm trying this route.  I've downloaded the
desktop binary for 0.7.1 from [1].  I'm getting somewhere, but have
gotten stuck with this error:

No fonts found; this probably means that the fontconfig
library is not correctly configured. You may need to
edit the fonts.conf configuration file. More information
about fontconfig can be found in the fontconfig(3) manual
page and on http://fontconfig.org

Did you have this problem?  I'm using xhost and this is probably a
Gentoo/X11/xhost issue.  I'm looking into it, but perhaps you already
know the solution?
