There are a few possibilities:

1) The items in question have conflicting changes -- inbound changes
to fields that have also been locally modified are considered
"pending" and are not applied automatically. This is indicated by an
exclamation icon next to each conflicting item in the list view, as
well as a red banner across the top of the detail view. Clicking the
red banner will bring up the conflict resolution dialog; resolve each
conflict by choosing whether to apply or discard the inbound pending
changes.

2) There was an error during synchronization -- this is indicated by
an exclamation icon in the sidebar. If you see such an icon, right
click on the collection name, choose "Manage", and the dialog that
appears will have a button at the bottom for viewing the error
details. Those should be copied and pasted into a bug report.

3) The collection has been taken offline (suspended) -- this is
indicated by a zigzag icon in the sidebar. Right-click the
collection's name in the sidebar and uncheck the "suspend" option.
