The choice for Mac users would be simple: the command key is for  
*moving* items. The main example of this is the Finder, where even if  
you are dragging to a different disk the command key moves the file,  
while the option key is for *copying* files. The default (no  
modifier) is to move or copy depending on whether the destination is  
on the same volume..

Is there a similar mapping in Windows and Linux?
