You've been running into bug 6495 
(https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6495): the tooltip 
in the markup bar (the small toolbar containing the various stamping 
buttons) is currently static and doesn't switch correctly between "Add" 
and "Remove", it always says "add" even when it should say "remove". 
Clearly confusing... When you clicked on this button, it actually 
"unstamped" the item, i.e. removed the date information turning the item 
into a simple note thus making it disappear from the calendar. This 
should be changed in the next release.
