I'm in the office today, I took a look.

--recover did work, it turns out, it just took 6-7 minutes.  So now
Chandler's back and ready to go on Esther's desktop, except sync-all
syncs mail but doesn't sync to Cosmo (there's a file not found traceback
in her logs).

Also, if I hit Apple-S to make sure a commit happens after making a few
changes, the commit appears to succeed, the UI is responsive for about a
second, then it hangs (I gave up after about 5 minutes).
