Build, Release, QA
------------------
*Checkpoint*

Dan tests:

*rt*
Bear added a "--params=" feature to rt, allowing pass through
parameters. This allows John and others to pass --wing to Chandler.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008225.html

*Dogfoodable checkpoint*
Sheila explained that we wanted to identify the checkpoint where we are
ready to ask people to start dogfooding. She and Aparna identified three
blocker bugs: a recurrence bug, a conflict management bug, and the OOTB
configuration. She marked them with the 0.7blocker flag.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008240.html

*Blocking Flags*
Philippe summarized the bug council's use of bugzilla flags:
- 0.6.1 blocking flag tracks bugs that block the migration checkpoint
- 0.7 blocking flag tracks bugs that block the dogfoodable checkpoint
Eventually we will use the 0.7 blocking flag for bugs that block the
Preview release
- severity = blocker is (rarely) used for bugs that break the build or
TBoxes or block QA in a major way

Migration
---------
*ics export for non-shared collections*
For the migration document, Aparna proposed adding instructions to
backup non-shared collections using export/import of ics files.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008222.html

Pieter and Andre pointed out that ics export and reimport will lose data
for items not stamped as events.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008229.html

*Office calendar*
Aparna proposed moving the office calendar to Chandler Hub.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008223.html

*Dialog default*
Jared proposed changing the default answer to the question "Would you
like to remove all data from your repository?". We're getting close to
Preview, have dogfooders, and now have a migration feature. Dogfooders
won't be blowing away their data. Morgen made the change.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008231.html

*Checkpoint*
Jared asked for a new checkpoint for migration:
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008232.html
Bear complied:
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008234.html

*Successful migration*
Andre reported that he successfully migrated to Chandler Hub. He noted
minor issues:
- missing sharing icons are confusing, perhaps mention the bug
- build number not displaying in About dialog -- hard to verify version
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008238.html

Aparna gave bug numbers for the two problems.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008239.html

*Checkpoint*
Jared asked for another checkpoint:
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008242.html
Bear complied:
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008243.html
Another checkpoint at the end of the week:

Dev
---
*Compact*
Jared asked about the "compact" feature Andi added, noting that getting
a random dialog every 7 days is not ideal for end users. Andi explained
that compacting the repository is currently necessary to prevent it from
quickly growing very huge.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008233.html

Reid proposed not requiring an "OK" from the user, just a "cancel"
option. Andi explained that it doesn't currently work that way. Andi
noted that he dislikes such dialogs as well. He offered alternatives:
run in the background with no dialog (Chandler just gets sluggish), or
do a backup on a regular schedule instead.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008250.html

John proposed doing the compact on quit. Grant proposed having the
dialog promise a compact in a few minutes, with options to cancel or
proceed right away (Mac OSX backup does this).
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008254.html

Davor proposed changing the language to "Compact now" and "Later". Andi
agreed.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008256.html

Andi decided to:
- auto-start the compact after 30 seconds, with a countdown
- update a progress bar while compacting
- offer an option to cancel while in progress
He also considered:
- offering a "don't ask me again, just do it" option
- let the user trigger a backup first
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008260.html

Andrew Flynn proposed allowing the user to schedule the compact. Andi
noted that he didn't have a quick change for this request. He pointed
out that the user can compact the repository from a menu item.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008263.html
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008264.html

*PROPFIND*
Jared asked about using http OPTIONS instead of PROPFIND. He observed
that the design has Chandler making a request to the server that fails
every time, and essentially asked if that was a "bad smell" in the
design. Morgen pointed out that this only happens with subscribe (not sync).
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008241.html

Grant remembered a long discussion on IRC (that he couldn't find) about
the best way to do things during subscribe. He thought it would be
possible to do OPTIONS first. He observed that Chandler in the past had
to do some workarounds for in-development CalDAV servers.
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-dev/2007-May/008258.html

*Repository*
Andi added a new 'notify' attribute on Kind, and a feature where you can
turn off 'refresh' notifications on collections based off a KindSet. He
experimented with turning the notifications off for EmailAddress.
(Presumably not needed as the UI doesn't pay attention to this collection).
