I've attached my patch implementing mail indicators to bug 7048:

This currently fails TestMulti, which complains about the "Recurring  
event change window" (the one that asks if you want to change all  
events, just this one or cancel) still being open at the end of the  
test. This failure is immediately after test script code that checks  
the detail view, but all those tests pass. Here are some lines  
excerpted from a run of TestMulti:
