No; visibility and access are completely within my firewall, so I

Maybe, although access to two other ICS files ("US Holidays" from  
iMac and "San Diego Chargers" from Yahoo!), neither of which requires  
a username or password, work just fine.

Well, you're missing a noun or two in that sentence, but I'll be glad  
to give it a whirl.  How should we communicate?
