[Chandler-dev] Function-key scripts

I think we shouldn't be making changes at this point in the cycle,
unless we are fixing serious bugs.
Of the ones you listed below, it seems like only the first one is at
risk of causing a real problem for an end user. The counter argument to
changing it at this stage is that we haven't seen anyone do this in
practice.
I'd lean towards "do nothing" -- minimize the code changes at this point.
