An overview of what's going on in the platform team...

+ Morgen, Grant and Andi have been focusing on fixing α4 bugs. We've
seen a bunch of interesting/difficult stability bugs, often involving
some combination of sharing/merging/recurrence. It has been very helpful
to have more people dogfooding the app and finding these bugs. We've had
a good rate of progress in fixing them, and the app is starting to feel
more stable.

+ Phillip has been working on the first phase of EIM implementation. His
short term goal is to have something for Morgen to work with once α4 bug
fixing has tailed off. Info on the first cut:

+ The main platform feature for α5 will be the new sharing format work,
based on EIM. Morgen also has some refactoring planned for the sharing
code that deals with conflicts and merges.

+ Grant has a bunch of domain model work planned for α5, particularly in
support of the dashboard and stamping features. Grant will do some
recurrence refactoring in support of the dashboard and to improve
performance. Additionally, we'd like to have some sort of plan for
tagging/labeling and user defined attributes, even if this is not fully
realized in α5.

+ Dump and reload is currently planned for α6. This feature will build
on EIM and the sharing format work. We need a spec with more details on
how the feature will be realized in the app.

Also discussed:

+ Bear has been thinking about the build environment and how to improve
it for developers. He observed Grant and others using svk, and was
interested in making sure the setup was documented for others; similarly
for any other tools used by developers day to day.

Cheers,
Katie
