Cool - thanks for trying Chandler. Your one of the first to have tried
Slackware recently so I am not surprised that not much appears in the
list archives about it.

If you are looking to try out Chandler you should not have to do a full
build. You should be able to go into the chandler/ directory and do
"make install". The Makefile will download pre-built binaries and
create a chandler/release/ directory. Then you can run Chandler by
doing ./release/RunChandler

I would recommend that you download the 0.7alpha3 Milestone source
tarball.

Unless for some library compatibility issue that will soon appear (if
there is one :) the above should be all you need. If not then the
following will help.

I have seen different flavours of tar behave this way, I would love to
know what version of tar Slackware is using.

The issue is that newer versions of tar do not like the --exclude
option to follow any file lists. In the later releases of Chandler
I've changed the Makefiles to move the exclude option for this reason.

If you do decide to try out 0.7alpha3 then the problem will be solved,
if not then I can work up a patch for you that will fix the issue.
